There's nothing quite like running the whole gamut of human emotions before 6:30 a.m. Especially when it's the crappy gamut.

shoemaster, so I rewatched that part of The Prestige today, and yeah, CB did say what you thought he said, not what I thought he said. I blame the goober, who was talking over the movie at the time. ;)) Ahh, such renewed hate for Hugh Jackman once again, too. Bastard coated bastard with bastard filling. Grr.

Heading over to my parent's house for my mother's birthday this afternoon. Can you feel my enthusiasm? *tries to ignore how tired I feel* Eh, at least we get a steak dinner and ice cream cake for our troubles.

Holy crap holy crap holy crap. We finally got around to seeing The Prestige now that it's out on DVD.

Seriously, I never thought I would ever hate Hugh Jackman and this movie made me hate him more than a little. So good job on Hugh's part, but still. HATE!

Profound words from Grey's Anatomy. I really do think we all feel like that at times - as if we're disappearing. Of course, this is coming from someone who's feeling a little bit faded herself right now. Spending all of my weekends and most of my evenings on my own has finally taken its toll. Instead of just feeling all alone, now I'm physically alone as well. I had sort of hoped it would have taken longer for this aching loneliness to set in, but I think being snowed in with the hubby on Valentines Day pretty much cemented it. I miss having him around, but even when he is, he's not "around". Not really. And I thought I could deal with it. I thought that I'd do projects, that I'd have time to chat and do stuff with my friends, that I wouldn't have to worry or feel guilty about spending so much time doing said things, but that hasn't panned out either.

So I'm sitting here, presently friendless, certainly husbandless, trying to work up the enthusiasm to go outside and shovel the 2+ inches of snow that fell so I can get out later to go to the Mardi Gras themed Monte Carlo party the firm is throwing tonight. Alone.

I'm not the most girliest of girls. Sure, I like to wear my skirts and heels and to do my hair, but I'm also a tomboy. I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. I don't mind getting dirty if the situation calls for it, in fact, I usually relish it. I avoid wearing pantyhose if at all possibly. Slips? What are those? Pink's a nice color, but blue or green are much better. ;)) I think you get the picture.

And yet even I will shriek to high heaven when a blur of brown runs out of the kitchen from behind me, right past a Fuzz who looks rather bored (traitor!), and dives behind our bookshelves. I swear, it was like one of those Tom & Jerry cartoons where the woman (who is only ever a pair of legs) is hopping from one leg to the next, shrieking and pointing for Tom to go sic Jerry, who just ran off screen.

Level 3, Level 3, LEVEL 3 SNOW EMERGENCY! *dances* I don't have to go into work and I GET PAID FOR IT!

Oh, not a very good start to the day.

But at least this (The Dying of the Light (Longbottoms, gen, PG-13) by lyras) made me cry in a good way. <333

Mmm, always lovely to wake up (far too early yet again - bleh) to discover that we're about to be buried in the white stuff. An inch is supposed to fall today during the day, 3 more overnight, and then anywhere from 4-8 inches tomorrow. *headdesk* If the way people were driving last week when we only got a dusting is any indication, this is not going to be fun.

So, what do you do when you wake up at 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. respectively on the weekend? Why, you watch movies, of course. This morning I woke up to the remainder of Wedding Crashers I didn't manage to finish the night before and then Christian Bale in Batman Begins. (Oh Katie, you do not dump Batman. You just don't.) Yesterday it was the Bridget Jones movies. Still love the books way more (in fact, I just finished re-reading them both, hence the inkling to watch the movies), but Colin Firth and Hugh Grant were nice distractions all the same.

Psst, justinitsuj, the more I spoil myself, the more I think you might just be right. It does not bode well when a creator of a show is saying what she's saying. Hee. I am simultaneously anxious for and fearful of Thursday.

So, after watching the entire first season of Slings & Arrows in spurts, braving a mini snow storm with 40 mph wind gusts to knock the corner gutter thing off the cable wire so tv viewing could be restored, and cooking of "good" food amidst lots of general lying and goofing around, we finally got around to watching The Last Kiss.

I can see why a lot people were disappointed by and unhappy with it. I think they were expecting something uplifting like Garden State. After all, TLK is billed as a "delightful comedy". In reality, it is a brutally honest look into relationships. It dove into insecurities and issues and fears we all have. It starts after "happily ever after" and never quite gets back to it. Not really. It would be a bit hard to after showcasing infidelity and the fallout from it, not to mention a marriage just not working, no matter how much you try, and the love of someone's life deciding they just don't love you anymore.

It wasn't sugar-coated, nor was it entirely hopeful, but it was real. Brutally, honestly real. After all, you can't fail if you never stop giving up and it doesn't matter what you say to the one you love, but rather what you do.

Never give up, guys. Never give up.

8:00 p.m. - an interesting time to be at my brother's new home, touching up the paint job in his room even though he wasn't there and he said he would be.

9:00 p.m. - a good time to be sitting around waiting in the bitter cold to pick up a w00blet.

10:00 p.m. - a thankful time to discover that my brother's friend/room renter's suggestion of performing a system restore on the computer fixed the 'everything refusing to open at all' issue. Bastard IE automatic update. *sends it packing*

10:20 p.m. - a joyous, joyous time to discover that one of my neighbor's wifi was free for the gacking.

11:00 p.m. - a nice time to change into flannel jammies, only to discover they really don't afford much warmth in temps that turn out to be on par with those of Inuvik, Canada. Oi.

Midnight - a perfectly respectable time to be giggling over Callum Keith Rennie pics and dS's interpretation of the law of gravity.

1:00 a.m. - a somewhat unfortunate time to discover that due to the Inuvik-like temps, mices have taken refuge in our chilly house.

1:01 a.m. - a very...loud time to rouse my dead to the world husband from his slumber due to said mices.

1:08 a.m. - a rather resigned time to decide that the mices have a weekend reprieve and then it's adios mousies.

2:00 a.m. - a lovely time to finally stagger off to bed once the ep of Psych we wound up getting caught up in ended.

7:00 a.m. - a very disgruntled time to find oneself wide awake due to 1) the cold, 2) blazing hunger because one refused to eat at 1:00 a.m. when one was then only slightly peckish, and 3) my internal clock that can't get it through it's wiring that I've got a slight cold, that I've been working my ass off at work all week, and that I haven't been going to bed in a timely fashion these past few days and therefore could really benefit from even a 9:00 a.m. wake up time.

Rar.

Color me unimpressed. Quite frankly, I'm glad I was so bloody crazy!busy at work today that I didn't have a chance to check my flist until about a half hour ago. If I had, it would have put a definite damper on my good mood that stemmed from major appreciation (and chocolate) from my boss.

A week after the movie comes out. Unimpressed. Extremely unimpressed.

Taking the Fuzz out while I shoveled the driveway and walk probably wasn't the smartest thing (she kept nearly yanking the leash out of my hand), but at least we had fun. She looked like a big puffy snowball by the time I had finished and was perfectly happy to cuddle while I dried her off with a towel once we came back inside.

I'm quite amused that winter didn't truly arrive in this part of Ohio until last Sunday on the hubby's birthday. Seeing as he doesn't really like snow and that's all it's been doing since, it's really rather funny. I think the whole being born during the blizzard of '78 thing has kind of stuck with him.

In RL news, the furnace was fixable and fixed, our pockets are much lighter, as is my hair, and I'd really, really like to stop waking up in a foul mood. Fixating on things I have no control over until I become extremely cranky just puts a damper on the whole day.
